Reason #9: Turn heads when no one is looking

adidas gave TBWA\Whybin an open brief for the Auckland marathon to fill some pre-bought media space.
Problem: 48 hours before the marathon, the client had forgotten they had to use up space in the newspaper. They decided to use it for the upcoming marathon. We had 24 hours to press submission.
Solution: My partner and I just started to come up with ideas. And stories. But realised we didn’t have time to execute anything. So we just wrote. What resulted was something quite lovely; a view into the mindset of a runner. What makes it nice in my opinion is that it uses the mundane to tell the story of a rare breed of sportsman. These are the only long copy ads I’ve made.
Still makes me smile at how simple it looks at the end.
